If you find yourself in central London midday, head over to have lunch at Borough Market in the Southwark district near London Bridge and The Shard.
Borough Market is not only a unique opportunity to sample new dishes, it’s also a full market where you can pick up everything from fresh vegetables and seafood for your dinner, baked goods for dessert, cheeses for starter and lovely flowers for your table.
At Borough Market you’ll discover booths full of gourmet goodies to tempt your taste buds for lunch or an early dinner. From duck confit by the caldron full to Spanish paella, street food and sandwiches, it’s all on offer. Which makes it easy for everyone to satisfy their own cravings.
We went for lunch on a Friday and it was heaving, but we were still able to wander around and take it all in. Don’t plan to be in rush, as you may have to wait, but relax and enjoy the experience.

The Borough Market is under the London Bridge extension between Bedale and Stoney St. You can’t miss it.
Make a Day of Borough Market
After lunch take a stroll to the Thames river embankment and walk along to the enclosed Hay’s Galleria where you can find multiple shops to browse.
If you’d prefer to sit down and enjoy the view of the Thames, I can recommend the Old Thameside Inn which is just down Cathedral Street. Look for the Golden Hinde II, the restored ship and the pub sits next door facing the Thames. There’s seating all along the front of the pub and on a nice day you have a perfect spot to watch the boats go by!
